We created this blog as a central place to post the hottest topics concerning climate change, marine conservation, marine life news, and marine science. Sources include the popular Plankton Forums, our Hourly News page and issues we encounter during our daily research and communications. Our principal blog editor is our Vice President and Editor, Joni Lawrence who welcomes your comments and suggestions.
Our Mission
MarineBio’s mission is to share the wonders of the ocean to inspire conservation, education, research and a sea ethic. Our goals are to:
- Share the wonders of the underwater world and raise awareness of marine conservation issues.
- Provide an online library of scientifically accurate information on the most endangered and the most common marine species.
- Provide an online introductory education in marine life science along with extensive information on marine conservation. We believe that science must be linked with conservation to ensure sustainable seas.
- Provide forums for marine scientists, conservation organizations and others with an interest in marine conservation to share information and communicate on issues of importance.
- Provide a research tool for marine life scientists to find useful resources with information on current research, news, and trends and to highlight the impact of the work they are doing in the marine life sciences.
MarineBio is an evolving online tribute to all ocean life, marine biology, and marine conservation. Since 1998, we have been a nonprofit volunteer organization of marine biologists, students, professors, and conservation advocates and have created the MarineBio Society to raise funds to hire staff and carry out our Mission. Please join the MarineBio Society today and help us preserve and protect the ocean for our children and theirs.
